Meals at Space School Aktau

Balanced Nutrition for Elementary School Students

The ages of 6–10 are a period of active growth and the formation of lifelong eating habits. What a child eats in elementary school affects not only their current growth and health but also their relationship with food in adulthood. That's why at Space School Aktau, we treat nutrition as part of education, not just a technical service.

Four Meals a Day for Elementary School

The meal plan is designed to meet the needs of elementary school children in terms of calories, portion sizes, and nutritional content. During the school day, a child receives four meals: breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack, and an additional snack for those who stay for the after-school program.

The menu always includes:

  • Protein with every meal — meat, fish, poultry, or cottage cheese
  • Fresh vegetables and greens — a salad bar with a variety of options
  • Seasonal fruits — daily
  • Natural beverages — fruit and berry drinks, and water
  • Low sugar content in pastries and desserts

The menu is developed in accordance with the age-specific nutritional guidelines of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is adapted to children's tastes, so they eat with pleasure, not "because they have to."

What We Don't Serve

  • Sugary sodas
  • Fast food
  • Commercially processed foods
  • Deep-fried foods

Our school kitchen uses fresh ingredients delivered daily.

Teaching Healthy Eating Habits

At a young age, children form their relationship with food for years to come. That's why at Space School Aktau, lunch is not just a meal but a part of the educational environment:

  • Children choose their own portions and dishes at the salad bar, learning to listen to their bodies.
  • Teachers dine with the students, setting a personal example of healthy eating culture.
  • A child is not required to "finish everything on their plate" but also doesn't get dessert instead of their main meal.

This way, children develop a healthy relationship with food: without coercion, but also without permissiveness.

The Menu is Open to Parents

The school cafeteria menu is published weekly. Parents know in advance what their child will be eating each day, can plan their meals at home accordingly, and can immediately see if something is not suitable for their child.

If a child has food allergies or dietary restrictions for medical or religious reasons, the school accommodates these needs individually. Simply inform us during enrollment.
